Swarojgar Credit Card

Swarojgar Credit Card Scheme was introduced to provide adequate and timely credit that includes working capital/block capital or both to small artisans, handloom weavers, service sector, fishers, self-employed individuals, rickshaw owners, other micro-entrepreneurs, SHGs etc. in a flexible, hassle-free and cost- effective manner.

The scheme envisages provisions of credit to economically weak working class people as a composite loan including term loan/ revolving cash credit.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Small artisans,
  • Handloom weavers,
  • Fisherman, other farm sectors like dairy, horticulture, poultry etc.
  • People engaged in self-employment,
  • Rickshaw owners, auto drivers, car drivers etc.
  • All micro-entrepreneurs etc.
  • All service sectors
  • Self Help Groups

Types of Loans

The loan types provided by the Swarojgar Credit Card Scheme are:

  • Joint (Composite) loan
  • Term loan
  • Revolving fund

Scheme Benefits and Highlights

Under this scheme a credit card along with a passbook is issued to the applicant for working capital requirements/Block capital.

Rs. 25,000/- per borrower as composite loan is given under this scheme. The security norms, interest and margin will be as per RBI’s norm and is updated over the RBI Website. This is given for a period of five years.

The credit card holder under this scheme will be covered under Group Insurance Scheme whose cost will be borne by the bank and the burrower equally.

SWAROJGAR MITRA

Public Sector Banks, NABARD, KVIC, Grameen Vikas Nidhi and Financial Institutions have partnered with GRAMEEN VIKAS SANSTHAN to implement SWAROJGAR CREDIT CARD with targeted intervention. To achieve the target GRAMEEN VIKAS SANSTHAN has been tasked to recruit full-time volunteers under the project as SWAROJGAR MITRA.

Objectives of SWAROJGAR MITRA are as follows:

  • Registration and issue of Swarojgar Credit Card by the beneficiaries
  • Loan linkage and self-employment counselling to the beneficiaries and micro- enterprises
  • Achieve maximum coverage for rural and semi-urban unemployed workforce Enhancing quality of workforce
  • Achieve maximum coverage for rural and semi-urban unemployed workforce Enhancing quality of workforce

WORK MODULE OF SWAROJGAR MITRA

  1. Issue of SWAROJGAR CREDIT CARD to beneficiaries and target achievement
  2. Loan-linkage and Self-employment counselling
  3. Coordinate with Public Sector and Private Sector Banks and Financial Institutions to achieve maximum coverage in the area
  4. Coordinate with various state and central govt departments and ministries to channelise funds meant for SWAROJGAR CREDIT CARD Scheme.
  5. Provide both cognitive and non-cognitive pre-recruitment training to enhance target achievement for financial inclusion of poor people
  6. To offer financial guidance services by empanelling Vendors, Consultants and Experts to provide services at doorstep.
